MACtion Action

I crushed last week’s picks during the first full slate of MACtion. The only game I missed was Kent State. They won the game, but blew a huge lead and somehow didn’t cover. Can’t wait to keep the winners coming right now:

Akron vs Ohio (-27.5) O/U 59.5

Akron is better than last year. They improved from the worst team in the country, to maybe the second-worst team in the country. On the other hand, Ohio dropped a tough game to a very good CMU team. The Bobcats may have lost but they could still win the conference this year. This is now a must-win for them, and they will win, by a lot. I’ll have the same bet as I did last week. If Akron wins, I’ll literally eat my own words. I’ll print this out and eat it. Ohio by a million.

  • Ohio -27.5
  • U 59.5

Kent State (-20.5) vs Bowling Green O/U 56

LET. CRUM. COOK. Last week, Kent’s offense was electric in the first half, then they quite throwing it. They ran the ball pretty well, but they aren’t a team that’s going to beat you by owning time of possession, with a ground and pound style of offense. Last year Kent won by 42, and I think they should do something similar again this season. BG’s offense looked anemic last week against Toledo, but I think they’ll score a little more against a below-average Kent defense.

  • Kent -20.5
  • O 56

Miami vs Buffalo (-8) O/U 56.5

Next up we’ve got the MAC game of the week. Buffalo is legit and played the part of Hercules last week against NIU. Their defense definitely has holes, but their offense can run the ball on any team in the MAC. Luckily for Buffalo, Miami gave up 169 yards on the ground last week against a much worse Ball State squad. If the Redhawks couldn’t stop Ball State’s rushing attack, they definitely won’t stop the Bulls. Miami is one of my favorite teams in the MAC, but they just don’t match up very well with Buffalo.

  • Buffalo -8
  • O 56.5
